The World Health Organization daily sugar intake recommandations
On March 5, 2014, the World Health Organization launched a public consultation on the reduction of the recommended daily intake of sugar.
The WHO project especially “free sugars” that are added to foods by the manufacturer, and sugars present in honey, syrups and fruit juices are going.
The new projects also suggests that the intake of sugars is less than 10% of daily calorie intake, but also suggests that this reduction is less than 5% Additional benefits are obtained.
5% of total energy intake is about 25 grams (about 6 teaspoons) of sugar per day for an adult with a normal body mass index (BMI).
