“You don’t have to be vegan to love vegan almond milk!”
Végetarian, strict-vegetarian, vegan, we hear about it without always knowing the full meaning.
Here you will find clear and concise information to help you understand the differences beetween those different expressions.
Vegetarianism : Diet that does not allow to eat meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, or by-products of slaughter
The vegetarian diet is the most known but also the more complicated because it exists different variants like for example:
– lacto-vegetarian : person who excludes eggs but eats dairy products
– ovo-vegetarian : person who excludes dairy products but eats eggs
– and a lot of others…
Vegan diet: Diet that does not allow any animal food
The vegan diet is also known as strict vegetarian diet because it does not allow animal-derived food such as dairy products, eggs, honey…
Veganism : Philosophy that does not allow the use of any animal-derived product (ex: meat, milk, leather…)
People become/are vegan because they refuse animal exploitation for any reason: to feed, dress, or entertain themselves. Vegans also refuse to use products that have been tested on animals. As a result, veganism is a philosophy, vegan are on a vegan diet, but people on vegan diet are not necessarily vegan. So vegan food is suitable for vegans, as well as people who are on a vegan diet and vegetarian.
